Hi Godfrey,
You say you're looking for a "quicker" way to measure multiple images, so
it sounds like you're already part way there.  My suggestion would be to
open one image, then use the macro recorder ("Plugins|Macros|Record...") to
select your region of interest and measure the gray scale.  Then try the
Multiple Image Processor ("Process|Multiple Image Processor") to apply it
to a directory of images.  I believe it is included in the Fiji
distribution of ImageJ.  If it's not included in standard ImageJ, I'm sure
it can be found on the ImageJ website.  That is possibly the easiest route.

By the way, it's always best to direct questions to the ImageJ list (copied
here), as individuals may not catch the question, or have time to reply.
