There are a lot of methods available for improving the signal-to-noise ratio
of images. Their efficiency depends on the type and amount of noise you have.
You could perhaps try the "anisotropic diffusion" approach. A plugin for
ImageJ is available at http://helios.univ-reims.fr/Labos/INSERM514/ImageJ
