I am trying to work with a large image stack (1000 SEM images, 1 MB each). I
can open as an 8bit stack and do a simple segmentation (threshold) and
convert to binary. However, if I want to view in 3d, the 3D Viewer hangs up
due to the large stack size. I can save the images as JPEGs and save (no
luck saving as a binary), but when I open the images into a stack they still
open as 8 bit TIFFs. Can I open the stack as a type smaller than 8bit TIFF?
Unfortunately, I might ultimately need to work with stacks that are up to
2GB- possibly 4GB.
