I am releasing Custom Legend, an open source plug-in that builds on the
excellent Calibration Bar of Bob Dougherty. I wanted several features in
legend creation for our lab that were not provided by the bundled
Calibration Bar:
-- In layout for publication, I always wanted the legend as its own image
-- I wanted much more control over the shape of the legend, particularly
to design long narrow legends that went across several images
-- I wanted more design control over other elements, particularly access
to system fonts
-- I wanted to use a LUT and a scaling for a legend without reference to
an image, as my images are usually relatively low-resolution and cannot
accommodate the Calibration Bar
So I have developed Custom Legend which allows the user to simply set a
LUT, scaling, and number of ticks, with additional custom settings for
height, width, font and many other design elements (though these can
all, except the first three, be left on automatic as well). A legend is
returned in the form of an ImageProcessor.
