Save as Tiff: File does not contain compression flag

If a file is saved as TIFF in ImageJ no compression flag (id=259) will be written. When reading these files, some customized programs complain that the compression mode is unknown. Saving with LOCI tools is ok (they output id=259 with value 1=no compression) .

Is there a reason for this I'm not aware of?
