Skin Analysis - Acne Lesions

Has anyone managed to get results using ImageJ for this? I have tried the Skin Analysis plugin and results are variable at best. I find the histogram end-point selection process to be very subjective. Perhaps there is something better? I wish measure lesion areas in a trial I'm doing.
