Hi. I am new to ImageJ, surprise, surprise...
First, I did try to attach a picture of my radiograph to explain more clearly what I am trying to do, but this did not work... either...
So I have a lateromedial radiograph of bone with a screw in the dorsal cortex. There is some periosteal reaction surrouning the screw head and I would like to measure the area of that new bone formation. Since it is somewhat impossible to define where the bony proliferation exactly begins, I thought I would create a rectangular box of defined size around the screw head extending for example 5mm on each side of the screw head. The height of the screw head is 5mm and that is what I used for calibration and that would be the height of my box as well.
So, I can only make the program measure the surface area of the box, how shall I make it measure areas within the box? The reason I don't measure the bony proliferation directly with the free hand draw is that it is difficult to define the exact edge of the proliferation. But by defining a certain area, I could compare the amount of bone within that area (box) between the different screws. Hopefully this makes some sense.
Thanks in advance!
