Text annotation of 8 bit color images

Michael Wilson-6
Dear list members,

Does anyone understand how to specify the colors used when adding text
to 8 bit color images?

The color picker seems to work just fine for RGB images, but not for
images with 8bit LUTs. I would have expected the color picker to display
the available LUT colors in such a situation but it appears to provide
the whole RGB palatte. Of itself this would not be overly confusing if
the selected colors where then mapped to the nearest matches in the
available LUT, but even this does not appear to be happening.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance.

Michael

With 8-bit color images, the color selected in the color picker is
mapped to the closest available LUT color when you draw on the image.
Note that text may not display correctly on 8-bit color images unless
antialiasing ("Smooth") is disabled in the Edit>Options>Fonts window.
