I'm currently using Unibrain 'Fire-I' 640x480 greyscale cameras in 10.4.11 on a MacLaptop (2.2ghz, intel core 2 duo) with little success - despite looking fine in other apps, they will only do 4-bit depth in ImageJ (v1.44b, using "File/Import/Video"). None of the regular system adjustments can change this and I can find no plugins/drivers that properly support these cameras (though they market them for OS X they provide virtually zero support - I'm glad they were inherited and I didn't spend money for them) . If anyone else has successfully used these with ImageJ I would enjoy hearing from you.
Back on subject: what low-cost USB or Firewire cameras are Apple Users operating with ImageJ? I'm starting to work with light-scanning and structured-light applications and would prefer to automate everything with ImageJ, so I'm in the market to purchase what will interface well. Image sizes from 640x480 up through 1600x1200 would be good, as well as the abilities to set gain/shutter/framerate/gamma/color_parameters (for appropriate cameras)/frame_sync would be beneficial - in two words: manual EVERYTHING. My framerate requirements are low: 5-10 FPS would be my maximum. Thanks for any comments, -Steve- ________________________________ This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. Hello Steve,
Have a look on the Micro-Manager project : http://www.micro-manager.org/. An adapter for cameras which adhere to the IIDC1394 specifications is available for Mac and Linux platforms : http://valelab.ucsf.edu/~nico/MMwiki/index.php/Dc1394. To all:
I have a series of 16-bit RGB images that I need to process to recombine r g and b channels from separate images. I can manually open an image, and then split the channels into 3 16 bit monochrome images. However, when I incorporate the run("Split Channels"); command into a macro, it returns an error saying this can only be done with RGB files. Any help will be appreciated. -- -------------------------------------- Herbert M. Hello Philippe,
Interesting! I did not know about Micro-Manager. I downloaded it and while it _does_ communicate with the Fire-I cameras there are still some functions lacking; but it _is_ a good place to start. Thank You, and my Best Regards to You, Steve P.S. - I leave it open to everyone that l am still interested in hearing which cameras (USB & 1394, grayscale & color) you're using with OS X. > Hello Steve, > Have a look on the Micro-Manager project : http://www.micro-manager.org/. Please "unsubscribe" me from the news list. The collaboration between ImageJ users is absolutely excellent. I will be back - in email overload mode now!
