Last winter our finance director left right before we had to submit year-end reports, and I was left scrambling. I wasn’t familiar with all the reporting systems, and every decision felt risky because I didn’t have anyone to check my work. I had to learn on the fly, digging through old reports, reviewing budgets, and trying to forecast expenses for the next quarter. I was constantly worried about making a mistake, and it took a lot of late nights to even feel like I was catching up. I just wanted someone experienced to come in temporarily, organize everything, and make the forecasts clearer so I could focus on running the day-to-day operations.
