Virtual stack opener

Nikos Katsikanis
quote

"You can easily run out of memory using commands like Image/Crop because any
stack not directly generated by this plugin will be RAM resident."

Is there a way that the cropped images from the original stack could be
loaded one at a time into ram and saved to hard disk memory without opening
them into imageJ as images?

Niko,

The ImageStack class has a method to find out whether the stack is virtual or
not ( imagestack.isVirtual() ). So you could write your own plugin to do what
you want: to crop the virtual stack into another virtual stack.

I agree though that this behaviour would be most convenient if built into ImageJ
itself.
