For most pilgrims traveling from Delhi, the Pahalgam route is the best choice. It is the traditional route and is recommended for first-time visitors, families, and senior citizens because the climb is more gradual, allowing better acclimatization. Although the trek is longer (around 36 km), it is generally considered more comfortable than the Baltal route.
If you're physically fit and want to complete the pilgrimage in less time, the Baltal route is a good alternative. The trek is only about 14 km, but it is much steeper and more demanding, making it better suited for experienced trekkers.

The drive to the Kashmir region is approximately 800–900 km, and travelers complete it over two days with an overnight stop in Jammu or Srinagar.
