When imagejdocu.tudor.lu is goint to be up

Fred Damen
Greetings,

Does anyone know when the [ImageJ Documentation Wiki] is going to be up
again?

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Fred,

I don't know personally, but I did scrape that entire wiki and push to
GitHub earlier this year:
   https://github.com/imagej/imagejdocu

Andreas Jahnen (CCed) and I were working on the possibility of migrating
all the content to imagej.net—so in the GitHub repository you'll find both
.docu (original) and .wiki (converted) versions of each page.

Unfortunately, I didn't push the images or other binary assets to GitHub;
for those you'd have to go to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine:
   https://web.archive.org/web/20200202194300/http://imagejdocu.list.lu/

For example, if you are looking for the 3D Object Counter page:

https://web.archive.org/web/20200209010230/https://imagejdocu.list.lu/plugin/analysis/3d_object_counter/start

Regards,
Curtis

Re: When imagejdocu.tudor.lu is goint to be up

Fred Damen
Greetings Curtis,

The reason I asked was that I was trying to release some plugins, that I
all of a sudden had time to polish off.  From your response I assume that
you assume the current site was going to halt soon.  I had also CC'ed
[hidden email] on the post to list list and received a mailer
daemon permanent failure.  Any guesstimate as to when your effort is going
to come to fruition?  I have a manuscript that is under review that
references the location of one of these plugins...

Thanks in advance,

Fred

Hi Fred,

The current URL for the ImageJ Documentation Wiki is
https://imagejdocu.list.lu/. The same is true for email addresses to LIST (@
list.lu rather than @tudor.lu now); your mailer daemon failure was for
using the discontinued @tudor.lu domain.

The CRP Henri Tudor merged to become the Luxembourg Institute of Science
and Technology five years ago, and the tudor.lu domain became list.lu at
that time. The imagejdocu.tudor.lu domain has been kept working for
backwards compatibility (pointing to the same content, not a copy). But my
understanding is that the IT department at LIST does not want to keep the
old subdomain in place forever. Personally I think they should, but it's
not my decision.

Unfortunately, it appears that the server is currently undergoing
maintenance, so neither the old nor the new URL will work to access the
content.

> I have a manuscript that is under review that references the location

I would recommend that you document your plugins on imagej.net, not
imagejdocu.list.lu. I am pledged to maintain all content on imagej.net for
the foreseeable future. To get started, just click "Create account" under
"Personal tools" in the page footer.

> Any guesstimate as to when your effort is going to come to fruition?

I don't know. I have been waiting for Andreas to announce the plans, since
it is his server and his decision. I did make a content migration guide for
page authors (https://imagej.net/DokuWiki_Migration) but we haven't
formally announced it. I guess this is as good a time as any to say: all
content authors of the ImageJ Documentation Wiki are invited to migrate
their content to imagej.net, using the linked guide. The main difficulty at
the current moment will be the imagejdocu server downtime—but most images
are probably accessible via the Wayback Machine as mentioned earlier in the
thread. Happy to help with any difficulties: just post on forum.image.sc
and mention @ctrueden please.

Regards,
Curtis

Antwort: Re: When imagejdocu.tudor.lu is goint to be up

Andreas Jahnen-2
Dear Curtis, dear Fred, dear ImageJ Users,

we did develop a plan to migrate the content from the https://imagejdocu.list.lu wiki to https://imagej.net/. Curtis did prepare a migration guide and all is set up so far. Unfortunately, I did not send notification mails for the users to work on the migration as I was out of office a lot beginning of the year. I wanted to be online, once people start migrating.

The server is down now, but it is in the moment not possible to check the problem. Due to Corona crisis, I work in home office and can not access the server physically. It will go online again as soon as possible, but this might take time... .

Best Regards,
Andreas
