Who Built the Original Chardham Temples in Uttarakhand?

delhitempotravels
The original Chardham temples were built and established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century AD. He unified India's spiritual heritage by consecrating these four sacred Dhams Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath across the Garhwal Himalayas.

However, the Pandavas are believed to have originally built Kedarnath Temple centuries before Shankaracharya restored it. Badrinath is mentioned in ancient Vedic scriptures as an eternal sacred site dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Over centuries these temples were destroyed by natural disasters and rebuilt multiple times. The current structures date primarily from the 17th-19th centuries under royal patronage of Garhwal kings.
