Trying to run ImageJ under Windows 8 and it doesn't seem to matter whether I try either x32 or x64 builds, it fails to launch when the program is installed on the hard disk. The error is

Opener
File is not in a supported format, a reader plugin is not available, or it was not found.

C:\Program FIles (x86)\ImageJ\Files

Interestingly, when we run ImageJ from a CD, it launches just fine!

I have ImageJ on the hard disk of a couple of Windows 8 machines. It
seems to work fine.  Could you have some issue with Java installation on
your Windows 8 machine vs. a local jre folder on the CD?

Hi all,

Would this have something to do with the fact that Fiji is under "Program Files (x86)" which has some particular permissions as it's a protected windows folder?

We had this issue a while back on windows 7, and moving the Fiji.app folder to c:\ had solved the issue. Maybe if you moved ImageJ to C:\?

All the best

Oli
