XY coordinate values

James J. Roper
I capture an image that is a scatterplot and I wish to repeat (check) the
analysis.  I would like to scale both ordinate and abcissa and then select
the points in the scatterplot to create a data base with the same values as
the original figure.  Is that possible?  I might be dumb, but I have looked
and can't find what I want.  I did get XY coordinates, but they were not in
the original scale.  Please - any suggestions?

I've toyed with the idea of writing an ImageJ plugin to do exactly
what you're suggesting.  It would not be very hard.  I've never gotten
around to it, though.

Right now I measure the origin in ImageJ, and measure one point on the
x-axis and one on the y-axis.  Then I take the data into Excel and
determine a conversion function for the x and y axes.  Then I measure
all the points in ImageJ's coordinate space and convert them to the
real data in Excel.

Folks -

CCP14 has a good list of programs to digitize
hardcopy graphs to data.
