composite analysis problem

(s) William Rogers
I am studying at the University of Plymouth, UK, researching Composite
Materials and in particular the fractures in certain structures.  I have
been trying to get to grips with Image J for some time now, using the
particle analysis to count the areas of fibre ends to compare to resin area in a sectioned piece of
laminate.  However, the fibres touch each other and the program fails to
accurately outline the individual fibres.  Really, all I need to achieve
is a black and white pixel count when the image is in threshold;
however, i can't seem to find a function that will perform this task.

I was wondering if you could suggest anything that would help,  I have
read all the online examples, but have had no success.

Kind Regards,

William Rogers

Re: composite analysis problem

william,

if you display the histogram (ctrl+h) of the thresholded image, it gives
you the number of white and black pixels.

cheers, alex
