cut and paste behavior

jvander
When I need to precisely move a portion of an image it is convenient to select the portion, cut, paste
and then nudge it with arrow keys.

This works great with the rectangular selection tool because when you paste it puts the portion of
the object right back in it's original place and then allows you to nudge it as desired by tapping the
arrow keys and getting single pixel precision in your movements.

However the other selection tools (ellipse, freehand and arbitrary polygon) do not behave in this
manner.  When you paste, the selected region seems to be pasted to the upper left hand corner of
the image.  So you have to move it to get it back to it's original position and that can often be
difficult when you are trying for pixel level precision.

Do others see the same behavior?  Or is it somehow unique to my system?

thanks

This is a bug that is fixed in ImageJ 1.36.

Hi, I am also interested in this problem in some way.
On a sequence of CT scans I select the region of
interest on each slice either manually with the
polygon selection tool, or with the Yawi2D plugin. I
need to copy and paste (or cut and paste) these
portions to the exact same locations on a new image
sequence, preferably without nudging with arrows from
pixel to pixel. Does anybody have an idea?
Thanks, Roland Makay
