I would like to use imageJ for densitometric analysis of western blots.
Does anybody have a writtne protocol. I find it confusion using the menus in the gel analyzer. Thanks Miguel A. Valvano, M.D. Professor and Department Chair Canada Research Chair in Infectious Diseases and Microbial Pathogenesis Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Western Ontario London Ontario, N6A 5C1 voice 519-661-3436; fax 519-661-3499; http://publish.uwo.ca/~mvalvano Assistant: Ms. Evelynne Ansara ([hidden email]); 519-661-2111 #81436 |
I have written a guide for ImageJ densitometry, but it isn't really a
straightforward how-to type manual. The method also relies upon outside software (Photoshop or an equivalent) for convenience, uses modified ImageJ GelAnalyzer code, and assumes the user has a decent background in processing images in ImageJ. The benefit from these inconveniences is that the final result is more accurate than other methods. Hi,
No fewer than a dozen people have now individually requested copies of this (to the entire ImageJ list). Mr. Hilmer has not even said publically that he would make the guide available. If you *must* request a copy, please email him directly instead of cluttering the list with this any further. In the last week I've received a lot of interest in my crude guide,
but I would prefer not to have my incomplete tutorial serve as the foundation for such an important topic. Surely we can come up with something better, and such a discussion would be more productive than a one-sided distribution of my thoughts on the matter. To this end, I'll be creating an entry in the ImageJ wiki as time permits. If anyone has specific questions, let me know and I'll try to address them.
