erase microstructure part based on color

Richard Basary
Hi All,

I have images with three different colors, I want to get rid a black color since it not represent part of microstructure and keep the orange (for copper) and grey (for graphite). When I change to 8-bit and threshold, the Image J counts holes (black) as a part of microstructure/graphite. Does any one know how to get rid of the holes image and left with grey and orange do that?

Thanks

-Richard-

Hi Richard,

use Image>Color>Split Channels to separate the colors.

Then use Process>Image Calculator to find a combination of the color
channels (e.g. with "Average") that looks like you want.
Instead of the built-in Image Calculator you can also use the
"Calculator Plus" or "Blend Images" Plugin from the ImageJ Web site
(the latter has preview).
