Richard,
Are you running ImageJ on a 64-bit system with lots of RAM allocated?
If not, 3.3 GB is far too large to open the entire file. You can work
around the problem by choosing only certain image series within the
file, or selecting only a subset of the planes (by checking "Specify
range for each series"), or choosing to display the data with the 4D
Data Browser rather than a standard ImageJ window (since the Data
Browser does on-demand virtualization/caching).
If none of those options work, or you are receiving an exception of
some sort, more details would be useful to identify and fix the
problem. Ideally, it would be good to have the file, but I know 3.3 GB
is a lot to upload anywhere, so if you could at least send the text or
screenshot of the error message, it would be very helpful.
