Hi -
I have ImageJ running on an OpenSUSE 11.0 64 bit box and I have had problems with occasional, random blank windows. I installed the latest Java package from SUN and use that to run ImageJ, as mentioned in this list. That fixed the warning about some library, but I still got occasional empty windows. I fixed empty windows by turning off all the compiz desktop effects. That also allowed me to change window focus by moving the cursor over a window - my preference. All those compiz effects are nice, but not as nice as having a fully functional ImageJ! Ron -- Ronald Michaels Technical Director Phenotype Screening Corporation 10233 Chapman Hwy. Could you please test imageJ on the pre-release version of JDK6 (6u10 b32 or later, where the bug is fixed), with compiz enabled? http://download.java.net/jdk6/ Cheers Mike -----Original Message----- From: ImageJ Interest Group on behalf of Ronald Michaels Sent: Fri 10/10/2008 21:42 To: [hidden email] Subject: fixed empty windows in ImageJ - WFM Hi - I have ImageJ running on an OpenSUSE 11.0 64 bit box and I have had problems with occasional, random blank windows. Hi -
Following the suggestion of m.doube, I installed jdk-6u10-rc2-bin-b32-linux-amd64-debug-12_sep_2008.jar on a Sun Ultra 24 running openSUSE 11.0. I enabled Compiz default effects. My command line was /home/ron/Download/JDK_B32/jdk1.6.0_10/fastdebug/bin/java -Xmx3000m -jar ij.jar & I opened several large image files of various types and ImageJ appears to work just fine with this JDK release and Compiz. I then closed this instance of ImageJ, left Compiz enabled, and started ImageJ with jre1.6.0_07. The first image I tried to load gave me a blank window. Ron |
Glad that worked Ron.
Did you get missing taskbar icons after clicking on a modal dialog? I originally posted 'missing taskbar buttons' as part of the same bug, but it has been reported before and is now being tracked here: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6355181 Mike Ronald Michaels wrote: > Hi - > > Following the suggestion of m.doube, I installed > jdk-6u10-rc2-bin-b32-linux-amd64-debug-12_sep_2008.jar on a Sun Ultra 24 > running openSUSE 11.0. > > I enabled Compiz default effects. > > My command line was > > /home/ron/Download/JDK_B32/jdk1.6.0_10/fastdebug/bin/java -Xmx3000m -jar > ij.jar & > > I opened several large image files of various types and ImageJ appears to > work just fine with this JDK release and Compiz. > > I then closed this instance of ImageJ, left Compiz enabled, and started > ImageJ with jre1.6.0_07.
