greyscale, iidc camera and micromanager

jvander
Hello,

I just tried MicroManager with an inexpensive iidc firewire camera  (Fire-i by Unibrain).  Unibrain
claims it is iidc compliant and a link that I followed from the micro manager site suggested
compatibility.

My own experience was that the program did recognize the camera, but the image size was 160 by
120 instead of 640 by 480.  I verified that no binning was selected.

Has anyone had specific  success with micro manager and a Unibrain camera?

Success with other iidc camera with micro manager?

(Note that unlike a recent post, I am fine with greyscale, I don't need color).

thanks

You have a higher chance for response by posting MicroManager
questions to the MicroManager mailing list (https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/micro-manager-general
).

It sounds like you need to adjust the property "Video Modes".  You can
find this property in the Property Browser (under the Tools menu).
There are likely a few modes listed (this depends on your camera).
Select the one you like best.  You can bring this property to the
MicroManager front panel by making a configuration group (press the
'+' button in the middle of the screen).  You can also make another
configuration group called 'System', with a preset called 'Startup'
with the appropriate video mode selected to have the desired video
mode set on startup.

Best,

Nico

Thanks Nico!

MicroManager handles the IIDC camera perfectly for my purposes after following your instructions.  I
encourage folks with camera needs to give it a try.

I will be sure to take your advice and frequent the MicroManager listserver as more questions arise.

thanks,

Joe
