Are you using the Fiji distribution of ImageJ (
http://fiji.sc/)? The plain
version of ImageJ cannot open Slidebook files without installing additional
plugins.
Fiji is bundled with the Bio-Formats plugins, which are what provide
support for opening Slidebook files. However, note well the following from
the Bio-Formats Slidebook page [1]:
> We strongly encourage users to export their .sld files to OME-TIFF

And some SLD files might not open at all. This is because SLD is probably
the most arcane and volatile format that Bio-Formats attempts to support.
First, please obtain a fully up-to-date Fiji: run Help > Update Fiji, or
download a fresh copy [2]. A fully updated Fiji should report "ImageJ
1.48o" which is considerably newer than the "1.47v" you are seeing.
Then try opening your SLD file using File > Import > Bio-Formats. If it
still doesn't work, try with the latest version of Bio-Formats 5 [3]. If
even Bio-Formats 5 fails, please report a bug to the OME Bio-Formats team
[4] with the full error message that appears.
Regards,
Curtis
