We have an opening in the Micro-Manager team for a software programmer/
architect. Micro-Manager is a microscope image acquisition application
that runs as an ImageJ plugin. The successful applicant will have a
major impact on the future direction of the Micro-Manager project (

The incumbent will continue the development, maintenance and support
of the Open Source software Micro-Manager. The incumbent will be part
of a team jointly responsible for the Micro-Manager project;
responsibilities will include making decisions about the general
strategy and architecture of the project, developing hardware device
adapters, develop the user interface, interact with scientists in our
lab as well as other users world-wide to determine the most important
development needs, document the project for end-users and developers
through the website, wiki and mailing lists, foster and grow the Micro-
Manager community; maintain relations with microscope hardware
companies and perform other duties as assigned.
The candidate should either have training in software engineering and
a strong interest in biological imaging, or a background in biological
imaging and advanced experience in software engineering; proven
ability to design and execute large software projects; experience with
large software projects written in Java or C++; experience with
hardware device drivers; substantial interest in biological imaging;
strong interest for Open Source programming projects and excellent
communication skills.
