measurements and background signal

Dear all,

I'm doing some Integrated Density measurements of confocal Images.
Before doing these measurements I usually adjust the minimum and maximun
values to get the background signal removed.

I wonder if all the images I want to quantitatively compare might be
treated in the same way. Should I set the same min. and max. values for
all of them? Should I use another tool?

Any comment will be useful,
