Hi,
Several researchers here have mentioned that it has become slow to
access/open files from fileservers, and I found a posting from a few months
ago (apr 12 2005; subject: slow file reading from fileserver) inquiring why
opening approx. 1 MB images might take over one second on gigabit networks.
While this may be due to lower throughput of networks vs. internal
computer buses, it doesn't seem to be entire reason given we can move over
a gigabyte in less than 2 minutes copying/moving files on our internal
network. What might cause images <1MB to take over a second to open via
network? (again, main issue is over the slow File Import_Sequence
performance) Is there more overhead in java vs OS access?
Thanks for any replies,
