plugin/camera

Mark E Sakauye
Hello,

I'm trying to find a camera that I can use to capture image stacks in 8-bit
grayscale that I can run the particle analyzer on. The primary use will be
for Morris Water Mazes, Barnes Mazes, and other experiments of that nature.
So, I want record a set number of frames per second for a set length of time
into a separate stack that I can manipulate and run the particle analyzer
on.

First off, are there any acquisition plugins that don't require
frame-grabber cards that work on both OS X 10.4+ and Windows 7? I've already
tried the Quicktime_Capture plugin, but apparently one of its requirements
to run in windows (WinVDIG) hasn't been updated in a few years and no longer
works on Windows 7. If so, what plugin is it, and are there any good, cheap
cameras you would suggest? If not, what plugin and camera/frame-grabber
would you suggest?

Sincerely,
Mark Sakauye

I do not know if you are familiar with Micromanager which is a "device
support" for microscope devices including camera.  It is constructed to be
integrated with ImageJ.

You might look at the list of supported cameras for that program:
