plugins live and over the web

Boris Epstein
Hello listmates,

When you run IJ as an application, you can place a "plugins" directory
on the same level in the tree as ij.jar and plugins within it, whether
contained in JAR files or in .class files are read and picked up
automatically. When running in a plugin, it looks like the only plugins
picked up are those within the ij.jar. JAR files are not traversed, and
the class hierarchy (class path) is only read relative to the ij.jar. So
here is my question: is there a way to overcome it within the applet?
Can you, say, archive JAR's within a JAR and have it traversed? Can you
introduce the notion of a custom class path when invoking an applet?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.
