problem with opening tiff image

Yoav Rubin-2
Hi All
i'm trying to open a tiff image and i get an error message that sais:

  "Unsupported SamplePerPixle: 4
ImageJ cannot open CMYK and RGB+alpha TIFFs"

what can i do in order to use imageJ on this image?, what caused this problem, and what should i do in the software that creates the tiff image to prevent it?

  thanks in advance
  Yoav

Re: problem with opening tiff image

Duane and Julie
Yoav,

Your file contains 4 planes.  That's like a CMYK file, or an RGB file
with an extra alpha plane, just like the error message states.
ImageJ only handle tristimulus images: 3 planes.

When you save your file from your software, don't save it as CMYK,
and don't save it with an alpha channel.  You didn't say what
software you are using, so I can't be more specific.  One thing you
could do is to save it as something other than TIFF and see if the
file is forced into 3 planes.
