question about Image Calculator AND boolean operator

SUBSCRIBE IMAGEJ Jacob J. Hanley
Hello

I am new to Image J and using it to aid in the interpretation of colour images showing concentration data for minerals. I am using the Image Calculator allowing addition, subtraction, of image colour intensities, etc.

For the operator AND, could anyone tell me what the software actually does to create the final image ? The final image could be used to graphically represent correlation, but I am uncertain about what the final grey scale for a specific area of the image means in terms of this operator. What is the threshold it is using to decide if the AND operator is satistified ?

For example, if I have two colour maps showing concentration intensities for two different elements, and the maps show highest concentrations for both elements in one colour, intermediate in another, and low in another, the AND operator is assembling a new map whereby areas that had high concentrations of both elements are now colour codes specificially, areas with high and intermediate of the other, a different colour, intermediate and intermediate of another another colour and so on.

What is it doing to determine this ?

Thankyou
J
