rat brain segmentation

jay chen
Hello, everyone:

I have a 3D MRI rat brain image and would like to segment out
3 D rat brain region for further analysis.  I wonder are ImageJ or
other softwares capable to do this?  I appreciate your comments and
suggestions.

                                        Best Regards
                                        Jay Chen

Yes, ImageJ and other softwares are capable of this.

However, typically a lot of manual work is required.

A (really _very, very_ basic) web search reveals this gem:

http://imagejdocu.tudor.lu/doku.php?id=plugin:start#segmentation

(although I realize that TrakEM2 is mis-categorized; it is more about
segmentation than just mere 3D modelling, and I cannot find myself
agreeing with Image5D and HyperVolume_Browser being in that category,
either)

Ciao,
