reducing no of frames

chris elliott
Hi, I have an avi shot at 30 frames/sec. is it possible with ImageJ to
reduce the number of frames, eg to 0.5 frames/sec, with each new frame
being either (i) the Nth frame (in this case keep 1 in 60) or (ii) the
average of N frames

thanks

The new Image>Stacks>Reduce Size command in the 1.42i daily build will
keep 1 in 60 frames if you enter 60 as the reduction factor. It works
with virtual stacks created by the Image>AVI, Import>Using QuickTime
and Import>Image Sequence commands, but the reduced stack becomes a
normal stack. With 5D hyperstacks, you have the option of reducing in
the either Z or T dimension.

To reduce the number of frames using averaging, convert the stack to a
60-slice hyperstack and use the Image>Stacks>Z Project command. The
Stack to Hyperstack command requires that the product of Slices and
Frames be equal to the number of images in the stack so you will need
to pad the stack to be multiple of 60 in size.
