"simplify" a polyline ROI

lechristophe
Hi,

I have a polyline ROI that I transform into a 1-pixel spaced polyline roi
and then modify. I end up with a shorter roi with 1-pixel spaced handles.

Is there a way to "simplify" this roi and keep only the minimum number of
handles that defines the polyline roi? Something similar to the fit Spline,
or something that would do the inverse of the "Interpolate" command?

Thanks for your help

Christophe

Program in ImageJ inquiry

Henry Barwood
I am trying to digitize X-ray diffraction films, and convert them to a format that can be used in modern Search/Match software. An old program that ran under NIH-Image (Mac) was able to do this, but is no longer available. Many years ago I tried to run it using Executor on a PC and could never get it to function properly. Is there anyone on the list who is an ImageJ programmer who could develop a modern implementation of this method for me? It is described in:

Jeffrey H. Nguyen and Ramond Jeanloz
A Computer Program to Analyze X-ray Diffraction Films
Rev. Sci. Instru. 64(12) Dec. 1993, 3456-3461

If you would like to have PDF of the paper, I can send it as an attachment so you can give me an estimate of the cost of adapting it for ImageJ. I would do it myself, but alas, I am not a programmer of any sort.
