Frame grabber and software

Hello All,

I am new to the list and ImageJ. I am currently exploring the
possibility of using ImageJ in my research and have some basic
questions.

In the past, I used the software Scion Image with a VG-5 Video Frame
Grabber board produced by Scion Corporation. However, my grabber board
has now failed. I have been unable to contact Scion Corporation for
replacement and wonder if they are out of business? Does anyone know?

My need is to link a microscope to a computer for image acquisition and
analyses, principally counting and measuring the area of ca. hundreds of
microfossils per sample (i.e. scan a sample under the microscope with
the live image displayed on the computer, capture image when fossils
spotted, measure areas of fossils plus other metrics like length and
width, restart scanning and repeat). I believe that ImageJ could easily
meet these demands, correct? If so, can anyone recommend a reliable and
affordable grabber board that can be used with ImageJ.
