Thanks for the info.  If you have any more details about the specific error message that might help.  Feel free to send it to me off-list since it's not ImageJ specific.  If you've already tried attaching the image using mail.nih.gov, Wayne can also receive email using the secureemail.nih.gov service, which may not crash in the way that mail.nih.gov does.

It appears that it's not an ImageJ specific problem. I tried to send the gel file to Wayne (Rasband) for him to try to reproduce the problem on his MacBook, but it caused both my Mail and Safari programs to also quit with the same error message. At this point, I'm assuming it's an OS specific problem, but my ability to troubleshoot is rather limited in this department! Any suggestions would be be greatly appreciated.

If you start ImageJ using "run ImageJ64.app" in a terminal window, does loading the .gel file produce an error message?

I have imagej 1.45c installed on a MacBook Pro under Snow Leopard 10.6.6
running Java 13.4.4. ImageJ and image64 load just fine and the LSM reader
plugin loads my LSM stacks just fine. However, I can no longer load .gel
files (from Typhoon scanner) - ImageJ just quits. Is there a simple fix for
this problem?
