Probably way too complicated for a summer project, but I would like some scheme to remove thermal distortion from telescope images. Basically daylight telephotography images.

I've tried the unwarp schemes, but it takes too much guidance. My ideal plugin would take an image stack, determine the "mean" somehow, then warp the images closest to the mean and combine them to make a sharp image.

Dear ImageJ-development team,

my name is Mats Moskopp. I'm a 21 years old student of medicin in Dresden
(Germany).
I'd like you to ask if you would like to participate at the google
summer of code, about which you are surely informed already. (Google gives
scholarships to students, who help to develop open-source
projects. (

))

I have already a few ideas which can
improve imagej. I'm using it very often for my doctoral thesis.
- the editor and the whole uploading system for self-written makros is
not able to work in an easy way. At this point it could be useful to think
about a better editor which allows you to work inside imagej on macros. Next
thing is that the
debugging is not "user-friendly". Often mistakes are marked twice ...
- For many reasons it could be useful to work with different Logs. I think
about improved interfaces for data processing.
- i'd like to create a few makros/filters about Shape-detection
which could be really useful for many kinds of other projects. So that you
could detect certain forms in the pictures and characterise them (like
plugins which deciphers digital informations in the images like bar-codes).

Maybe you have other ideas which can be solved or fixed. Or a project
which is not jet realisated. - Please feel free to propose me something.

Unfortunately we have not much time, because the the deadline for mentoring
organizations is very soon (11. March 2011).

Greetings
Mats Moskopp
