request for basic image analysis theory material

Hi,

I'm a new user in the image analysis field,
and I would like to know if you can recommend on some introduction material
to image analysis.
(I prefer material that is easy to access, preferably- on the Internet) , I
just want to better understand what am I doing when I use the "threshold"
etc'...
