greyscale bug thingy

Hi,

When i use LOCI bioformats importer and select “color mode: grayscale” with the “split channels” function checked... when my channels are split they appear in colour.

If i open the stack using LOCI bioformats and select “color mode: grayscale” WITHOUT the “split channels” function checked my stack opens as grayscale.  However, if i do image > color > split channels... channels are split again in colour... but if i then do image > colour > channels tool > more > make composite and select grayscale... my image appears again in colour.  After this... If i pull down from the dropdown menu and select grayscale, my image then turns grayscale.

Is there some bug going on here or am i doing something wrong.
