create raw volume files in ImageJ

Dear Subcribers,
Could someone please shine some light on the save as option 'Raw Data' in ImageJ (my version 1.43). I have imported a set of Dicom images which I would like to segment and save as a raw volume file (8-bit datatype). Currently it does not work. Can you help?
