Hi Richard,

use Image>Color>Split Channels to separate the colors.

Then use Process>Image Calculator to find a combination of the color  
channels (e.g. with "Average") that looks like you want.
Instead of the built-in Image Calculator you can also use the  
"Calculator Plus" or "Blend Images" Plugin from the ImageJ Web site  
(the latter has preview).
