editing problems using macbook pro

Hi there,
I'm a new mac (macbook pro) and imagej user and I just downloaded the version 1.42q. I tried to set the scale and I can only delete the numbers that appear in the dialog box... Similarly, when I try to search for a topic in the help bar I can't write either...

How can I fix that?
