How to use ImageJ as an ordinary digital photographer?

Hello.

I am new to ImageJ and need some tips.
I just take different digital photos, ImageJ look a bit difficult...or with
a bit stiff learinng curve..and a bit scientific :)
I have read the intro and basic concepts, but still a bit confused...
I am among those who want to use something else than rest of the crowd,using
high cost software etc.
I am not an expert in digital photo, but learning...
Anybody have tips on what menys to use here.To do ordinary editing in
digital photo.
And also how to use with raw files...Is it supporting most raw files. I use
Konica Minolta A2 and Pentax K 20 D And I use Mac Powerbook...Do I have to
do some plug ins or...?

What workflow can you suggest? Or are there any tutorials about this?
