doubts:need help

hi,
i'm writing my thesis using imagej and i have a few doubts.

1. when we measure linear and angular measurements, what does "Area Mean Min Max " signify?i didnt understand how a line or an angle can have area . i didnt understand other things as well.
 
is there any user manual for imagej ?if yes please tell me the links.
