Pierre,
I understand that the JRE will only make available to ImageJ the memory
that it can reserve from the operating system; could some bloated
program be running in the background, reducing what the OS can allocate
to the JRE? Check the Windows task manager (Windows key + R, type
taskmgr, hit enter) Processes tab, Mem Usage.
Which Java version are you running (Help->About ImageJ)?
