I've done some work using IJ and the local connected fractal dimension (FracLac plugin).  See http://www.dovepress.com/articles.php?article_id=347 or I can send the article if you want.  Gabriel Landini's seminal work on which the research was based is here: http://www.iovs.org/cgi/content/abstract/36/13/2749

Chris,

I'm currently trying to learn/evaluate imageJ by re-implementing some MatLab
I wrote a few years ago to do micro-aneurism and venous beading detection.
So far I have been using the imageJ macro language as I am still studying
Java.
