ImageJ not finding the Java compiler

I'm using ImageJ 1.41 on Fedora Core 9 and have installed JDK 1.6 and have updated the java and javac links in /usr/bin to point to the bin directory of the distribution.  I have no trouble running ImageJ and I see that the new java binary is being used but when I try to compile a plugin from within ImageJ I get an error that there is no javac compiler even though there is from the command line.

Is there a setting somewhere that I can manually change to get ImageJ to see the javac compiler?
