Hi, if you have already a binary image of the cell and of the gold  
particles, the distance transform of the first (Process->Binary-
 >Distance Map) redirected for measurement (Analyse->Set Measurement,  
Analyse->Analyse Particle) with Integrated Density deviced by Area or  
better Mean Gray Value delivers you per particle the shortest distance  
to the cell border in pixels.
