Olivia,
Please see Raub et. al., Biophys. J., (2008), Vol. 94, p. 2361. Two dimensional image autocorrelation will give you a good estimate of the fiber diameters. The length is a much more difficult proposition. In order to autocorrelate in ImageJ, use Process-FFT-FDmath and choose correlate from the middle menu.

Subject: MEB width length diameter measurement
Hi all,
I am very new to imageJ for the moment I'm doing a counting of fiber diameter manually and I would like to automate it.
The image represents fibers on a filter, I need to measure their diameter which is actually the apparent width. Also if possible I would like to know their length but the fiber is not straight, and many fibers can be crossing.
Do you think this is possible using imageJ ? and if yes, how ?
Regards,
Olivia
