Cell wall thickness

Dear all,
we are a laboratory of wood technology and we are quiet new to ImageJ.
We arrived very easily to measure the vessels by the "analyse particles"
function, and the cell wall thickness by the line tool and the measuring
function.
We are wondering if there is an automatic way to measure the cell wall
thickness by drawing a line across one or more cell walls and obtain
automatically the wall thickness or an average thickness of the crossed cell
walls.
Anybody can help with this??
